About this Presentation

This presentation shares a compelling real-world case study of how a specialized burn and wound treatment hospital achieved breakthrough performance using Theory of Constraints (TOC) principles. Faced with growing demand, limited capacity, and complex clinical workflows, the organization needed a way to dramatically improve patient flow, quality of care, and operational efficiency—without adding significant resources. The speakers walk through how the hospital identified its true system constraints and applied TOC thinking to redesign processes across surgery, wound care, diagnostics, and supporting functions. By focusing on flow, full-kit readiness, and better coordination across departments, the hospital significantly reduced delays, improved throughput, and increased access to care for critically ill patients. Beyond operational changes, the presentation highlights the importance of leadership commitment, staff engagement, and building internal problem-solving capability to sustain results over time. Attendees will gain practical insights into how TOC tools can be applied in complex healthcare environments to achieve measurable clinical, operational, and financial improvements—demonstrating that breakthrough performance is possible even in highly constrained systems.
