About this Presentation

The Association for Project Management (APM) Senior Managers’ and Project Managers’ Guide to Critical Chain 2024, endorsed by the TOCICO Board and featuring a preface by Rami Goldratt, aims to elevate Critical Chain to mainstream prominence. Supported by TOCICO’s award-winning case studies, this guide seeks to become the most popular in APM’s history while advocating for CCPM’s inclusion in future editions of the APM’s Body of Knowledge.

Rene Nibbelke

René Nibbelke is a BAE Systems Project Management Fellow, currently on secondment to the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence as a Senior Adviser to support their transformation programs. He became an advocate for Critical Chain after trialing it on a number of Defence projects in the UK and USA. His approach has been to collaborate with world leading experts and apply Business Change Management best practices to ensure successful adoption and enduring sustainment of Critical Chain applications. He is an Association for Project Management Chartered Project Management Professional, a Chartered Quality Institute Chartered Quality Professional, and holds postgraduate qualifications from University College London, University of Manachester Business School, and Henley Business School. René is a qualified TOCICO Critical Chain Practitioner and recipient of the TOCICO 2022 TOC Champion Award, the 2023 TOCICO Outstanding TOC Implementation Award and the 2023 Project Control Expo Innovation Award. He is the lead author of the 2024 Association for Project Management Senior Managers’ and Project Managers’ Guide to Critical Chain written in collaboration with, and endorsed by, TOCICO.

Simon White

Simon White works for BAE Systems Australia as Manager of Project Controls. His current role is to ‘Deliver Reliable and Repeatable Project Control’ across a multi-billion dollar portfolio of +220 defense projects, spread over Air, Maritime and Software/Cyber domains. He was part of a successful application of CCPM to an Aerospace MRO environment, and this has been shared widely within the BAE business globally, as well as via TOCICO Global Conference, CCPM Global Conference, Project Control Expo UK and Aus, and more.

Ian Heptinstall

Ian is an Associate Professor of Project Management at the University of Birmingham (UK). He is a late-career academic, joining the University after 35 years of working in project management, procurement and management consulting. His project & procurement experience primarily in the capex, construction & engineering fields. He has been a regular TOCICO Conference attendee since 2011, and in 2020 he helped set up the annual Critical Chain virtual conference, to share CC real world experience with project management practitioners who have little or no knowledge of TOC or critical chain. In 2016 he published “The Executive Guide to Breakthrough Project Management” about overcoming obstacles to using critical chain on capital/construction projects, in collaboration with Robert Bolton, and he supported Rene Nibbelke in producing the APM’s “Senior Managers’ and Project Managers’ Guide to Critical Chain” (2024
