About this Presentation
Using the Thinking Processes at COGITA, ViAGO, and then WiseTech, has taught us that most people only use half (at best) of the TP, and that the TP is incomplete in a few key ways. James will share how the subtleties of the TP are refined and extended at WiseTech to support hypergrowth.
What Will You Learn
To help you get the most value from this session, we’ve highlighted a few key points. These takeaways capture the main ideas and practical insights from the presentation, making it easier for you to review, reflect, and apply what you’ve learned.
The Thinking Process Program at WiseTech has evolved to be more efficient and effective, with the introduction of 'done statements', 'leave-behind results', and 'druids'. These changes have made the program more streamlined and user-friendly, enabling everyone in the organization to use all of the process very quickly.
'Flying pigs' or breakthrough ideas are encouraged and seen as necessary for innovation and competitive advantage. These ideas, though they may seem impossible or absurd at first, can lead to significant improvements and breakthroughs. The organization believes that if an idea is not a 'flying pig', it is unlikely to be insightful, competitively advantageous, a breakthrough, or a loop that builds by itself over time.
The concept of 'creative abrasion' acknowledges the conflict between hierarchy and innovation, and encourages argument from first principles rather than from authority. This approach fosters a culture of open debate and discussion, leading to better decision-making and problem-solving. It also ensures that everyone in the organization is bound together as a team, with a common language and understanding.
