Mental health issues are ubiquitous among various workplaces around the world, and Japan is not an exception. Depression among employees has been recognized as a serious problem to be tackled in many major corporations. There have been a number of “self-help” books sold, and mental healthcare has become a growing concern in corporations in recent years. Mental health counselors have been taking in clients year after year, trying to resolve their issues on an individual basis. Yet, we have not seen a significant improvement. Reality tells; there must be a wrong assumption in dealing with the issue of depression.
